1. Introduction
SpouseDash is a couples productivity app developed and operated by Emoria Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"), a Calgary, Alberta-based company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the SpouseDash iOS application ("the App").
We are committed to complying with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and Apple's App Store privacy requirements.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Sign in with Apple: When you sign in, Apple provides us with a unique user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we receive a private relay address.
App Data You Create
- Partner linking code: A 6-digit code used to connect two accounts as partners within the App.
- Dashes and tasks: The content, status, rewards, and metadata of dashes and Honey List items you create or receive.
- Profile information: Display name, avatar, and any customization preferences you set within the App.
- Streaks and statistics: Completion rates, streaks, achievement progress, and ratings data generated through your use of the App.
Automatically Collected Information
- Push notification tokens: A device token used to deliver push notifications when your partner sends a dash, love tap, or completes a task. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Usage analytics: Anonymized, aggregated data about feature usage patterns (e.g., which features are most popular). We do not track your individual behavior across sessions for advertising purposes.
- Device information: Basic device type and operating system version, collected to ensure App compatibility and diagnose issues.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Partner matching: To connect you with your partner using the linking code and enable real-time synchronization of dashes, tasks, and notifications.
- Dash delivery: To send, receive, accept, deliver, and rate dashes and Honey List items between you and your partner.
- Streaks and stats: To calculate and display completion rates, streaks, achievements, and partner statistics.
- Push notifications: To notify you when your partner sends a dash, love tap, completes a task, or when a streak is at risk.
- App improvement: To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve features, performance, and reliability.
- Customer support: To respond to support requests and troubleshoot technical issues.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for any purpose.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or behavioral targeting.
4. Data Sharing
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Your partner: Dashes, tasks, rewards, streaks, and profile information are shared with the partner you have linked within the App. This is the core functionality of SpouseDash.
- Apple infrastructure: Sign in with Apple and push notification delivery are processed through Apple's services, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Cloud infrastructure: App data is stored and synchronized using secure cloud services to enable real-time partner synchronization.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Subscriptions & Purchases
SpouseDash offers optional premium features via in-app subscriptions managed entirely through the Apple App Store.
- Apple handles all billing: We do not collect, process, or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.). All subscription transactions are processed by Apple.
- Family Sharing: Only one subscription is needed per couple. You can share your SpouseDash subscription with your partner via Apple Family Sharing. Restrictions apply.
- Receipt validation: We may verify your subscription status with Apple to unlock premium features.
6. Data Storage & Security
- Encryption: All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security). Data at rest is encrypted using industry-standard encryption.
- Authentication: Sign in with Apple provides secure, tokenized authentication. We never see or store your Apple ID password.
- Access controls: Only you and your linked partner can access your shared dash and task data. Our team accesses user data only when necessary for support or legal compliance.
- Infrastructure: Our servers are hosted with reputable cloud providers that maintain SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001 compliance.
7. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Your data is retained for as long as your account is active and you use the App.
- Account deletion: When you delete your account, we will delete all personal data associated with your account within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.
- Inactive accounts: Accounts inactive for 24 months may be flagged for deletion. We will attempt to notify you before deleting an inactive account.
- Partner unlinking: If you unlink from your partner, shared dash and task history is removed from both accounts.
8. Children's Privacy
SpouseDash is designed for adults in committed relationships and is not directed at individuals under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Your Rights
Under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information held by us.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated personal data.
- Data portability: Request a copy of your data in a common format.
- Withdraw consent for push notifications or optional data collection at any time through your device settings.
- File a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you through the App or via your registered email address. Continued use of SpouseDash after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
